Got an update to this. I tried to see if it crashes or opens with auto-start, since enabling that option turns off show welcome screen option when enabled and results in skipping both the welcome screen and windows administrative privilege's popup, and it loads @ windows startup with autostart...
I checked and have no compatibility options set with Hwinfo. Don't believe I've ever have. I've no doubt its not the programs fault. I'm betting reinstalling windows will probably fix it. or maybe this is Microsoft's attempt to get me to upgrade to 11, make my normally working programs stop...
Ive been trying that with no dice, and also uninstalled the windows update that installed on that day and no dice. Tried reinstalling Hwinfo after, also onto a different drive, and same deal.
But... I think I found a possible cause. After flipping through some different program settings to try...
I had updated my board bios, 4201 on Crosshair VIII Formula. Windows did some culmative updates and .net updates beforehand too. After Updating my bios and fixing settings I wanted to check for Whea errors, which worked fine until I installed the new version. 7.17.4460 ran and opened after 2...
prompt line switches to wmic:root\cli when i enter it. I can run applications like Ryzen Master still without error. I also cannot run 7.17-4660 or any other install or beta version now, the they all terminate at the same point since the installation.
The load up gets to 'Analyzing Devices..' and then it just closes with no error. Uninstalling and reinstalling no dice. It was running version 7.17-4660 beta before installing 7.24 just fine, and now that wont even run. Attached debug file.
Not really, since the most expensive boards aren't the ones doing this, its the cheaper ones particularly in the Asrock branding. $700 Formula and Godlike are in the clear.
Take the screenshot while CB20 run is in progress, not before or after it finishes, and take note of the 'Current' column. Its easier to tell exactly what your load was running at that way.
Shamino has unleased a guinea pig bios that allows the CPU and SOC telemetry to be changed. Says it goes by milliAmperes... But It incriments in 1000's and I have it set to -6000 for this result
So its working, but its more like 60 milliamps, not 6000 :3 I'll see if I can old-taichi mode it...
Hmmhmm. Some boardmakers had foresight on this exploit coming to light and fixed it in the most recent bios updates maybe :3 Since it had something to do with 'Auto Rules', my board was probably fixed 2 bios ago at the end of last year.
Well, that proves something I suspected with "My 65w processor is too hot" complaints after seeing this thread. Your ASRock board is only reporting to your processor that its only using 50% of power so it uses more, so much more that it is reaching the voltage limit before the 'fake' power...
'Performance Enhancer' Default, PBO disabled. Pretty sure Performance enhancer settings are just going to start removing limits be stay much of the same.
