Dell EC Temp5 hitting 100 degree

The Temp5 sensor seems to be near the GPU since a small GPU benchmark on my N5110 increased the value of this sensor significantly whereas a CPU benchmark had nearly no effect. The VRAM is connected to the GPU heat sink so it's also heated by the GPU itself. My Temp5 sensor hits only 77°C...

    Fan Control

Thank you very much for your help. You are right it isn't worth modifying the EC firmware since it is really complex and risky. So I have to live with the low/high fan speed settings. Anyhow the HWiNFO fan contolling is better than the native one. Thank you!

    Fan Control

I don't know the ODM of my notebook. How do I find it out? But I know the EC type. Its one of the nuvoton NPCE795x family. The best solution would be to modify the fan speed look-up-table in the EC ROM. Do you have any experience in doing so?

    Fan Control

Is there any domumentation of the DELLDIAG interface or have you extracted the relevant information by analysing the dell diag tool? How does HWiNFO works on a non Dell pc, do you communicate with the EC directly? Maybe it's also possible on a Dell pc to control the fan via the EC. I really...

    Fan Control

You are right I have a Dell N5110 laptop. What interface are you talking about which is used by HWiNFO for altering the fan speed look-up-table? I thought you are overwriting some sections in the RAM of the EC where this table is stored.

    Fan Control

Thank you very much for the fan control feature. My CPU fan has about 7 speeds but HWiNFO shows only 3. When I monitor the cpu fan speed in normal use without the fan control feature enabled, I see that the fan is much finer controlled with steps of about 200 RPM. I can choose between 0, 3300...
