Fan speed monitoring not available in HP Elitebook 8470p

I’ve been using HWiNFO64 v4.10-1820 on my HP Elitebook 8470p notebook (Windows 7 Pro x64 OS)

I can’t monitor fan speed in the Sensor Status window.

Can you help me enabling this feature in the software, please?

If HWiNFO doesn't display the fan control icon, then fan control is not supported.
Fan control is supported on few certain models only.

I installed on HP8740w, set the fan speed high on manual.....it worked....but now
fan continually on high and can't revert back....Any help?

Please attach a screenshot of the fan control window. Have you properly enabled manual control?
If everything fails to restore automatic fan control, then you need to power off the machine, remove battery and wait few minutes.. Then it should restore back.

I set to automatic, I set to manual, no difference the fan is at max, after shutting down and removing battery at post fan goes to max and stays there....Removed the program entirely and fan stays at max. Does your program modify the HP bios?

No, HWiNFO just sends commands to the fan controller circuit. This setting is overriden by the BIOS on each boot.
Moreover, the fan controlling circuit doesn't retain settings after a power loss.
What current fan speed is displayed by HWiNFO ? Can you please attach a screenshot of the sensors and fan control window?

My HP Probook does this from time to time. Disconnect power cord, remove battery, hold down power button for 30 sec.
Reinstall battery & connect power cord. Should start normally. Has worked for me every time. As to what the cause is, I don't know.

This fan controller works for me, don't know if it will work with your EliteBook.

With the EC fan that HP provides, it can take many minutes for HWInfo to display the fan speed.
