HWinfo and DPC Count

Martin,

Been tweaking with my system over the past few weeks and noticed that while using LatencyMon I was having a lot of DPC Counts on my Storport.sys and Stornvme.sys drivers. They weren't High execution but just a lot of them about 100k per minute. This led me down a rabbit hole of google and reddit and after finding most of my very small issues I read up on a problem with MSI Afterburner and the way it monitored the Power on GPU's if using Overlays in Games and it caused high ISR / DPC counts on random systems "mine being one of them" This led me into looking into HWiNFO because I have been running it full time and really never thought of it. Well I disabled it and my high DPC Counts stop on both Storport.sys and Stornvme.sys. When I mean went away I mean maybe 1k a minute now when not running HWiNFO. Is this just something the way HWiNFO has to work to get info or is this a random issue on some computers. I googled this a bunch of times now knowing its a byproduct and HWiNFO and DPC count doesn't really show up so this is why I'm asking.

Thanks,
Nate

Edit: I can do some screen shots if needed.

Sounds like it could be caused by monitoring of NVMe drive status. Try to disable monitoring of the disk SMART sensors.

I disabled all Logging and Monitoring for ever item (everything was greyed out) and it still did it. It started to do the high amounts of DPC Counts once it starts to load the driver and detecting the sensors. I'm running a Asus Prime Z790-P Wifi and a 14700KF if that helps out.

Yes on the headers, I've been trying all the different settings to see if anything. I've even been loading it Summary-Only now and I've screen recorded when the DPC starts to jump up. They jump either right after Analyzing SMBIOS DMI or right as Detecting SuperIO/LPC starts.

Martin,

I disabled Microsoft Virtual Drive Enumerator and the issue goes away. Hopefully my system is just an edge case but if someone else has the same issue hopefully they can use this thread for assistance.
