HWInfo64 crash on Dell XPS 15 9530

Hello, I have been having freezing of HWiNFO after anywhere between 5-10 minutes to a few hours when debugging is disabled and running in sensor only mode. When it freezes, I can open the sensors panes, and they are not greyed out however they are not updating at all even after waiting for a minute or so. I can close HWiNFO with the top right "X" however trying to starting it back does not seem to do anything. Checking the processes I can see the HWiNFO process still running, trying to force close it says "access denied...", trying to close with process explorer also gives "access denied". Only a windows restart can close it when it happens.
Then I saw the post of how to submit crashes, enabled the debug and started it in full mode (not sensor only) and then it ran for close a full day without an issue. At the end of the day, I wanted to drain my battery 100% and ran prime95 and at some point HWiNFO froze again but in a different way this time: all windows stopped updating again, but trying to click on them greyed them out and I could not close it. Because of this I could not make a report file as the app was greyed out and not responding and I only have the debug file, attached here as a zip. (After this my battery died and I had to restart windows)

Could you help with the reason why it crashed and what can I do to avoid it in the future? Thanks in advance!

You could try to disable the "SW SMI" option in HWiNFO settings.
If that won't help, please attach a Debug File of the freeze.

OK here is an update:
- I disabled the "SW SMI" setting, restarted HWiNFO (with main window, debug enabled, debug direct write enabled) it ran for 4-5 days without a glitch.
- I thought that ok that must have fixed it, so I ran it with my normal settings (sensors only, debug disabled), it stopped responding within a few hours.
- Then ran it with sensors only, debug enabled, debug direct write disabled and again it crashed within a few hours. Here is the debug file:
(this site's server did not accept the file, I attached my INI file too if useful)

Could you help with what I can do to fix these freezes?

Sorry but that file doesn't indicate any crash, HWiNFO was properly terminated there.
Were all runs with "SW SMI" disabled?

Hm interesting, I think after the crash, I restarted my PC and started HWiNFO again, so this possibly has something to do with it. Next time I will get the debug file before starting it again. Does it overwrite the debug file every time it starts?
Yes, all runs are with the "SW SMI" disabled.

It seems the DIMM polling is failing. Might be due to some other app conflicting with HWiNFO.
You might also try to disable monitoring of the DDR5 DIMM sensors by hitting Del over their headings.

OK it just froze with the same details as in the original post ("SW SMI" disabled and both DIMMs disabled). Here is the debug file:

Could you tell what is the root cause of the freeze?

Weirdly right after this I tried to start HWiNFO again and this time it froze my PC while starting up so I had to power off/on my PC (I only unchecked "Sensors only" at the initial dialog).
Debug is attached.

You have deactivated the "Debug Write Direct" option, so the Debug File in case of such crash might not capture latest data.

OK I will enable it once I start using HWiNFO again (I have stopped using it).
So, in the data that I have sent so far, is there anything more useful about what is the root cause?

Sorry, not much. The system behaves weird and I'm not sure why. Could be a conflict with some other software or something specific running on DELL systems.

Sorry but the Debug File (DBG) doesn't capture the problem. If you have run HWiNFO again after the crash, it will overwrite the previous one.

I did not start HWiNFO after the crash, I did this:
- I saw it freeze
- closed HWiNFO
- got the debug file (and report)

So there is no useful information in the debug and report file?
If so am I doing something wrong? Can you be specific what I should do/change?
If not, what else can be done? It seems like we are not progressing at all after all these crashes and debug files so it does not seem sensible to continue...

I thought it was a total system freeze, not just HWiNFO.
There are some indications related to GPUs which are being switched on/off depending on load. That might be causing issues when polled.
Try to upgrade GPU drivers if that will help.

Oh yes, it was only a HWiNFO freeze, not a system freeze.
I see that my Arc GPU driver was about 2 weeks older than the newest available on Dell's site (they don't recommend getting the driver from Intel as they change it). It does not seem like it has much changes, but let's see.
This will be my last try for now, I cannot afford to spend more time on this.
One suggestion if I could make it: it does not seem like the HWiNFO debug and report files capture enough details (or it feels like that to me). It seems like there is room for improvement there to capture more detailed information that will help find the root cause in this/similar cases. Hopefully this is constructive and please ignore if it is already thought about and on a future improvement list or similar :).
