Incorrect Identification

Why is this LG optical drive identified as ATAPI, when it's SATA?
The HP optical drive is ATAPI.

Hard to say without the Debug File, but I assume it was not possible to retrieve more details about that drive, so HWiNFO assumed that.

Thanks, that confirms my assumption - the controller/driver unfortunately doesn't return enhanced information about that drive.

Front nameplate says LG, maybe it was made for LG by somebody else. It was only about $15, new. The HP optical drive is over 10 years old & is not DVD & has lived in several different machines over the years. It's IDE & the current motherboard still has IDE & FDD . After this desktop, I have no more use for FDD or IDE. It doesn't fully support USB booting. Optical drives are being phased out, too, as USB flash drives are replacing them.
