Is it safe to run hwinfo all the time?

Hello,

on my asus prime x470 pro if I run hwinfo for long periods all fan eventually will stop.

If I change motherboard (for other reasons) would I be able to keep hwinfo all the time?

Yes. The issue you're experiencing with that ASUS board is common to some ASUS X370/X470 series and it's a failure of the SIO chip + BIOS: https://www.hwinfo.com/forum/thread...-down-after-a-while-when-running-hwinfo.4961/

Ok thank you. I can confirm you the problem persist with latest bios 5603.

So I can assume all x570/b550 to be safe running hwinfo all the time?

Yes, those series use a different SIO chip that is not affected by this problem.
