Recommended SMART Polling Period?

As the title says, what's the recommended polling period for storage (SMART)? I believe the default is - or was - 100, and I have it set to 2,500. Is there an ideal formula, for example where disk spin-down time * y = a less aggressive polling rate?

This is an interesting question, and the answer, this it can not be just one.
At systems with extreme HDD activity, it is recommended for them, stored data safety to be protected due RAID-1 configuration.
(SMART) this is an warning indicator, and it has some value as warning at system boot, and not when the system this is active due regular work load.
For regular Home systems, SMART Polling under interval, this is not required at all.
