    Also, it displays some absurd amount when it's plugged in so I'd like to hide it if over a certain value. does that functionality exist? Sorry for the thousand questions, I'm just a super perfectionist and feel uncomfortable if things aren't behaving how I intend.

    Well, it came back randomly. Any ideas about what could have caused the temporary absence so I can fix it? Presumably, it would be a bios or chipset firmware thing?

    I just ran into a new and related problem. The estimated time remaining sensor disappeared from hwinfo altogether!
