I think your proposed change is solid. I think the best option would be like a few programs I vaguely recall seeing in my Windows XP days.  I'm not sure if that's possible/practical in Windows 10 though.

I don't see a setting for changing the behavior I described though. The Hwinfo install I have right now is basically vanilla, no changes.

I find it annoying to have to reach all the way to the bottom right hand corner of my screen, clicking multiple times to try to open up Hwinfo again.
