HwInfo causing FPS drop anomalies on Nvidia GPUs with VSync

@valera5505 try lowering fps/hz 120 and see how it goes. you also use high polling rate of 500ms instead of 2000ms default in hwinfo. I did a test right now too with HwInfo running with sensors and https://www.vsynctester.com/ with 120fps and 2000ms polling: No HwInfo running: HwInfo...

HwInfo causing FPS drop anomalies on Nvidia GPUs with VSync

@valera5505 what is there to see on that clip? I dont see anything unusual. 240hz is really high refresh rate your pc seems to have issues with it, stuff happening in the background, moving mouse and so on. make sure youre using 500hz polling rate for your mouse for example not more. test in a...

HwInfo causing FPS drop anomalies on Nvidia GPUs with VSync

Nvidia has removed the bug report again from the driver release document: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/forums/game-ready-drivers/13/535233/geforce-grd-54665-feedback-thread-released-11724/ This would be a typical Nvidia move, and suggesting my theory, they claim this is a user...

HwInfo causing FPS drop anomalies on Nvidia GPUs with VSync

Nvidia posted this as an answer to the issue: "We have looked into this and it appears that the application is using non-public APIs that were not meant for external use, especially while gaming. If you are experiencing stutter or FPS fluctuations, we recommend turning off the background...

HwInfo causing FPS drop anomalies on Nvidia GPUs with VSync

@Martin maybe you can write the above information @valera5505 wrote to Nvidia for debugging. It was my theory already, that the root cause of this is more deeper, and it might not be inside NVML but on a deeper level just manifesting using NVML. But it seems all monitoring tools causing it too.

It seems it worked getting to the right people at Nvidia from your side, great this issue is now tracked!

HwInfo causing FPS drop anomalies on Nvidia GPUs with VSync

I can confirm, that there seems to be two different issues, which is also in confirmation with reports on both Nvidia forum and also in this thread: https://www.forum-3dcenter.org/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=13457172&postcount=38 From what I see from this: 1. NVML usage, for example through...

HwInfo causing FPS drop anomalies on Nvidia GPUs with VSync

Until this gets resolved I think you should push an updated version of HwInfo which disables NVML by default.

HwInfo causing FPS drop anomalies on Nvidia GPUs with VSync

I know. I have tried before in last years to push some bug reports. I am sure you can push them better than some normal user. If I am right, this issue is well spread for a lot of people. I have seen FPS VSync reports on the Nvidia forums for months now with hundreds of posts. Seems Nvidia is...

HwInfo causing FPS drop anomalies on Nvidia GPUs with VSync

https://forums.guru3d.com/threads/msi-afterburner-v4-6-0-beta-10-pascal-support-extended-sliders-more.424559/page-3#post-5622018 these posts suggest MSI AB also uses NVML for something, maybe indirectly giving a hint, that the issue seen here also is seen when using MSI AB. So maybe all...

HwInfo causing FPS drop anomalies on Nvidia GPUs with VSync

How does PresentMon work? does it internally maybe also use NVML? or it is not actually an issue of NVML directly but something that NVML also internally uses to monitor? because when I use MSI AB and have the in game OSD on, the issue seems to happen too. if I use PresentMon of HwInfo it seems...

HwInfo causing FPS drop anomalies on Nvidia GPUs with VSync

What does that mean in detail. That might explain the stutter and lag issues reported on the Nvidia driver forums since months when using VSync maybe people using HwInfo (or other monitoring tools), with no word from Nvidia on it. Does MSI AB / RTSS also use NVML? Do other programs, games or...

HwInfo causing FPS drop anomalies on Nvidia GPUs with VSync

Disabling SMBus did nothing, still broken. Disabling NVML option fixes the issue it seems.

HwInfo causing FPS drop anomalies on Nvidia GPUs with VSync

You can see the entire issue in this video happening, with all steps. how it is still working, until you open sensors, then you need to wait a little bit about 10-20 seconds, issue starts to randomly happen. closing sensors doesnt stop it to happen, until fully closing hwinfo...
