    TDR re-boot or hardware issue?

Update: Thanks for your assistance. I had stabilized the issue using CRU patch then HDMI - no issue using either implementation. I installed the new Lenovo Y27Q20 firmware a few days ago and it has fixed my intermittent black screens.

Thanks! I appreciate the explanation. I had barely scraped the surface on troubleshooting my brand new PC build with blanking screen and by sheer co-incidence opening Generic Log Viewer reliably reproduced sufficient conditions to cause the issue. Whereas all other occurrences were very...

Which CPU temp to focus on when adjusting case and CPU cooling fans?

OK, I thought speccy might be using different sensor/data but looks like it should be the same as the one I highlighted. For context I initially thought speccy was using the sensor that provides the CPU temp listed in hwinfo that has max 39.1c, under the motherboard temp of 41c. Surprised...

Which CPU temp to focus on when adjusting case and CPU cooling fans?

I've been using the one highlighted blue only because it is the highest CPU temp recorded of all indicated options.

    TDR re-boot or hardware issue?

Just an update, I've found that the intermittent blackscreens and nvlddmkm faults do not happen via HDMI Lenovo Y27Q20 monitor to RTX3070, only with DP 1.2 or 1.4. I have a beta Lenovo Y27Q20 I might try, or just wait for the public release. Hoping the new monitor firmware is true fix.

    TDR re-boot or hardware issue?

No other computer monitor at hand... I tried 60 HZ static but only for a short period of time while chatting w/nvidia tech support - not long enough for failure. As previous it seems to be youtube (only used chrome browser so far) causing it. I feel it's the youtube video window which has...

    TDR re-boot or hardware issue?

Thanks, I forgot to add my system info, which is now below. Your experience integrating many systems and never having to use EDID mod helps my thought process. Yes all components are brand new using monitor supplied cables including DP. I did try another display port from the GPU and it did...

    TDR re-boot or hardware issue?

This is a brand new build (1 week now) issue since build. I ran DDU and re-installed nvidia drivers. Removed, re-installed and inspected GPU and cables and connector pins to PSU. Changed port on PSU. Tried many other setting changes in nvidia control panel. If I install CRU and modify...

    TDR re-boot or hardware issue?

Thanks. So how do we use hwinfo to diagnose if issue is faulty hardware or something else? In my example the voltage drop is to zero so accuracy is not really in question.

    TDR re-boot or hardware issue?

Not sure how to interpret these hwinfo charts. Have intermittent nvlddmkm and temporary black screen. Where does hwinfo put the meter leads on these voltages?

Pictures of my crash, any input appreciated. Apparent voltage issues. Link to full log at end.

Update: My CRU settings defaulted back to normal taking away my "patch." With CRU patch reset per this link I can run Generic Log Viewer without crashing. https://motherbear.home.blog/2019/12/10/lenovo-legion-y27q-20-black-screen-fix/

I'm curious how can you tell it is clearly a fault in the NVIDIA GPU drivers?

No I have not. I am still trying to digest why GLV provides sufficient conditions to black and crash when before the conditions were intermittent, minor, and recoverable. I believe someone here knowing the roots of GLV and how it installs might be able to pinpoint more accurately from...

This is the fault that is correlated to my past intermittent black screens however every time before it was minor, unexpected, and auto recover. Event 4101 Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered. When running Generic Log Viewer the same fault happened. The...

I've been troubleshooting a minor intermittent black screen issue and completed many troubleshooting steps including DDU and latest nvidia drivers. So yes I don't know what to make of this other than I won't run Generic Log Viewer it's the first time I was genuinely concerned due to how hard it...
