Can I run the DOS version of HWiNFO before windows starts? If so, how?

The installed version of XP is corrupted on a machine I inherited and I want to see if the box is worth keeping. Thanks.

You'll need to create a DOS-bootable media (floppy, CD, or USB key) and put HWiNFO for DOS on it.
Then you'll need to make it boot from this media; depending on your BIOS settings, you might need to change settings there.
There are several guides on internet how to do that...
