I use a GPU riser in a small form factor PC. I recently ran into an issue where I needed to re-seat the GPU in the GPU riser because it was showing a x4 connection instead of a x16 connection. I did not notice this for quite some time and did not know it was causing stuttering in some games.
I know there is already Link Speed in monitoring. It showed 16 GT/s on a PCIE 4.0 GPU (as expected for a PCIE 4.0 GPU) when Link Width was x4. So I can't use link speed to monitor poor PCIE slot connection.
Use case: In case PCIE Link Width drops unexpectedly due to poor PCIE GPU slot connection, including Link Width in monitoring would allow the user to set an alert in monitoring when PCIE link width is below x16 (or whichever is the number of lanes allowed by the GPU).
