Silicon Image IDE 680 Raid Card ??

Seems after I installed a Silicon Image 680 IDE Raid card (I know - is very old) and attached a couple of Hitachi 500 Gb IDE Drives (non raid mode), hwinfo Ver 4.5 in Windows XP - (I know - is also old) - crashes when interrogating IDE Channels.

Anybody else have this problem and if so, did you manage to find a work around for it ?

System is Asus P5WD2 Premium with 2.8 Ghz Dual Core and 4 Gigs of ram.

I have several other machines (one supporting two quad core opterons) and HwInfo works perfectly on the others.
Thus I'm speculating may be no support in HWinfo for the sil680 raid card.

Any one know anything in this regard ?. Thanks
 
Indeed, the issue might when HWiNFO asks storage controllers for information and SiI drivers probably cause a crash.
I could check this in detail if you attach the HWiNFO Debug File from the crash.
Disabling Drive Scan in HWiNFO should fix this, though you won't see any drive information in HWiNFO.
