If you missclick the download button on the download page for hwinfo you download a virus instead.

Ads are placed by Google, so if you were redirected to a malicious site, it should be reported to Google. This could happen on any other site.
If you provide more details like the link, I will investigate that and report.

I dont know that sounds like an excuse to me. You and others decide exactly where the add is, purposly placed so that people click it. sure yo do not control the content but you certainly control exact location of ads. and you know what kinda ads you have. you know already is the basic assumption i have from this exhance of words but also that one of you might actually be devs of the softwares on the ads. idk thats just a conspiracy theory though. but it makes sense if that is the case.

I just ran into this problem on a brand new PC build as well. Had to completely wipe the drive and start over because of it. Absolutely ridiculous to tell your user base "its not your responsibility" to deal with malicious download links which are hosted on your official page. Move the add location, monitor your own page, do any god damn thing other than blaming google. OR as the previous person put it....FIX IT!!!!

Changing the position won't solve the problem that scam is passing thru Google's AdSense.
We're monitoring the content (and already blocked several ads) but it's not possible to review them all as they are placed depending on several factors including visitor's location, etc. So we will never be able to see/review all of them. Instead, we'll be looking at alternate providers which are more secure.

Missclick?
What does that even mean?

I use the download page of HWiNFO for over 10years now, for almost every non-beta version and a lot of beta versions and never got a virus.
