Ryzen 5 5600G PCIe 4.0

According to AMD all 5000G series APUs have PCIe 3.0 lanes shared from CPU. But HWinfo reports as PCIe 4.0. Even in BIOS I can switch to Gen 4, Gen 3 and so on.
AIDA64 reports as 3.0 as well GPUz. I'm really a bit confused since I'm going to plug in a discrete GPU sometime whether it would support Gen 4 or stick to Gen 3.

System Specs:
AMD Ryzen 5 5600G
MSI B550 Tomahawk
16GB CL16 3600Mhz Memory

The GPU and its internal switch port claim they support 16 GT/s (PCIe 4.0) but are currently running at 8 GT/s (PCIe 3.0).

So if I plugin a PCIe 4.0 GPU like RTX 30series or RX 6000 series would it run at PCIe 3.0 or 4.0?
Eg: if a RX 6600 runs at PCIe 4.0 x8 (16GT/s) will it run on PCIe 3.0 x8 (8GT/s) or PCIe 4.0 x8?

Yeah. Seems a bit strange though why AMD advertising it as a PCIe 3.0 CPU.
