Strange CPU Tempurature Event

Hi Martin,

I have never seen anything like this before!!!

I run 3 partitions currently: Main: W 8.1.3 Pro; Beta: W 10.3.0 Pro IP 10166; Patch Test: W 8.1.3 Pro.
I have been running on the "Beta" quite a bit lately. This morning, when I powered up and logged on to Beta, and a Auto Delayed HWiNFO started up, I was presented with several RED numbers. They showed the the CPU was Temperature Throttled on all cores(4) and the Temperature was oscillating between 90C to 98C on all cores(4). I went back behind the tower and held my hand near the exhaust and found that it wasn't near as hot as I have have felt it in the past. I was quite confused since I have never seen this at anytime in the past or anything leading up to this event. I have HWiNFO on the screen at all times.

After all the first start up software had run, I restarted and switched to the "Main" partition and the same thing presented itself. After its first start software had completed I did a full Shutdown. When I powered up again a couple minutes later, I went into the BIOS. I looked at the CPU Temperatures and Fan Control;

Martin ALL was NORMAL???    :s AND  it has been NORMAL ever since on Main, Test and then Beta. The CPU temperature on all Maxed out at 69C,so far, running mostly in the 50s C.

This seems so bazaar to me, How about you?

I am hoping you can shed some light on this? Forgive me I don't believe the temperate was ever abnormal.......

Hope you are well?
Best Regards,

Hello Crysta,

Well, I'm not sure what exactly happened and it's difficult to say more without further details. But if other values in HWiNFO confirm that situation (like Thermal Throttling engaged), I think it's most likely that this really happened. Maybe a temporary fan (or fan control) failure ?
It would be interesting to see at least a screenshot of the sensors screen when it happened, but I guess you haven't made such ;)

Regards,
Martin

No Martin,

I didn't think to take a screenshot. o_O :(

Motherboard Model: Intel DH67BL
Motherboard Chipset: Intel H67 (Cougar Point) [B3]

All of the Motherboard and CPU temperatures in regards to the "CPU itself" were RED, 90C to 98C. In other words, any temp with the letters "CPU" in it, in HWiNFO, were RED.
However the chipset and memory were nominal, like PCH. The fans showed nominal.
Usually PCH is hotter than the CPU

Thats the best I can do.

I came to this forum because I to am experiencing this problem right now.

This laptop is literally on my lap right now and I cant feel the heat, at first I thought, hey what if its some kind of a Rogue Virus or a really sneaky stealth bitcoin miner of some sort, so I went all out with full scans, HitmanPRO, 360 total security etc, nothing came up that would even remotely have a chance to have caused this problem, I pretty much threw everything and the kitchen sink at it.

Now, for a 19 watt APU to generate that much heat... that just makes little sense.
Also ATI/AMD KAVERI SPECTRE LITE MOBILE 25W [Hewlett-Packard] might be a little bit off for the FX-7500 APU, but then again im not the expert.

Luckily, I can provide you a screenshot and if you need any particular information maybe a log file of a certain type of scan, let me know, and I will provide the information.

This might be a different issue in your case, as this is an AMD APU and I believe this is rather a flawed CPU sensor as described here: http://www.hwinfo.com/forum/Thread-CPU-Core-Temperature-Measuring-Facts-Fictions
I wouldn't worry about that value.
