Hang on startup; Memory configuration analysis.

Strange persistent problem which appears to also be present in the latest BETA 805-5490.

The issue occurred after the installation of 'Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 23H2 for x64-based Systems' (KB5040442), and appears to be related to the fixes this update addresses.

HWinfo64 will hang indefinitely upon start-up at the stage of checking memory configuration, the same behaviour occurs in debug mode. I have included the debug file.

It should be noted that alternatives such as HWMonitor (cpuid) seemingly don't exhibit this problem, annoyingly!

I much prefer to use HWinfo64, being richer in features and more aesthetically pleasing than any other.

Some other software in the system seems to be blocking HWiNFO by holding a shared mutex.
If you're running other monitoring/tweaking tools, try to close them.

Interesting - I have used others in the past but none at the time of testing, strangely despite several reboots, and several attempts to launch HWinfo64 after each reboot which were unsuccessful it now is working properly, thank you for your help, deeply appreciated.

Maybe one of those other tools became stuck and held the mutex all the time.
