Well, I can understand that recommendation... maybe HWiNFO doesn't like suddenly loosing communication with the sensors on the card itself due to reload of the driver and that can be problematic in various ways... it would also perhaps explain why I never experienced this issue before as I usually ran HWiNFO in 5 minutes interval with logging enabled and basically the driver got updated (and reloaded) within that 5-minute window between HWiNFO asking for data from sensors... but still, maybe there is some solution to this instead of this workaround?

Such a workaround would be probably quite difficult and would require complete restarting of HWiNFO anyway.

Look at the forum how many problems are solved and worked in progress. And compare the level of support with other software.
Some of the problems can't be always solved in a way the user expects and some solutions require an effort beyond acceptable level given the impact of the problem.

That is OK, I understand it and I am quite happy with everything HWiNFO related... it is just you could have said "Sorry, at the moment there is no solution to these crashes, so just start it again." instead of being sarcastic...

... and who knows, maybe someone else had experienced similar issue too and maybe they have some way how to address it, so that there is no crash. This is why I put it to general discussion and not to bug reports.

It wasn't meant sarcastic. A solution to this problem would be quite complicated (I'm currently not ever sure how to exactly handle this) and I believe the chances of happening are rather low, only if certain changes would be performed to some underlying GPU layers.
We'll see if/how many other users will encounter this problem...

Thank you, will keep an eye on that report and in case I will be updating my NVIDIA driver again, I will restart HWiNFO with debug option before the driver update, so that I can get some data too (perhaps it might be useful for comparison).

I was finally able to reproduce this problem and I think I have a solution. A workaround will be available in the next build of HWiNFO.

Excellent, thank you.

And I am sorry, I overlooked the earlier question about number of crashes during NVIDIA driver update - it crashed only once. There is a hotfix driver available (I haven't installed it yet), so in case you wish some testing to be done, I can help.
