Hello everybody.
I have been having issues with my computer randomly shutting down (straight power off, no blue screens or prior warning) for months now and I have recently tried using HWINFO to find the cause of this problem. However, after taking a look at the log data, I am not quite sure what to look for so if anyone has some idea about this I would very much appreciate some help.
Specs:
Motherboard: MSI H97 GAMING 3 (MS-7918)
CPU: Intel Core i5-4460
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB
RAM: 8,00GB (2x4GB) Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 655MHz (9-9-9-24)
PSU: Nox Urano 750W PFC
(after writing this I'm thinking I might just need to update most of my hardware, lol)
The problem:
My computer randomly shuts down without prior warning. It happens from time to time (sometimes it works flawlessly for weeks), but it seems to occur more often when playing games.
Checking windows event viewer I find these two events:
- Kernel-Power - 41 - (63)
- Kernel-Power - 172 - (203) -> Disconnected. Reason: NIC compliance
I have got some logs from HWINFO from ~10 minutes earlier to the exact moment that one of these random shutdowns took place. I attach them to this post.
There seems to be many people encountering this kind of issue. For intance, there is this thread in which the OP apparently pin-points the source of the problem to their 8-pin GPU cable, but I am not sure whether that is also the source of the issue in my particular case. I also tried using Thomas Barth's Generic Log Viewer (amazing tool btw) to find some anomalies related to power, but I don't really know what values I should be expecting. Here are some screenshots I took in case someone finds them useful
(There are lots of other variables I could look at)
So, once again, I would appreciate any help or insights on this
Thanks in advance!
