Rams are showing the wrong slot, is it a problem with MB/Software or is it something else explained in post.

I noticed this as soon as I added an Adata Dimm to my Motherboard.
It started to show the Dimm as slot 2(or 1 based on Softwares that start from 0 or 1).
Before this I have used CPU-z and HWinfo and when I had 2 Dimms it showed it as 0 and 1.

Now I see this. I even tried switching the slots. That is swapping the Corsair from the second slot with the A-Adata then it shows the Corsair as slot 2.
I changed it back because this are dual Chanell Rams and Mobo supports it too.

Today I installed HWinfo again (afte resetting my PC Hell slow so I was just checking stuff)
I see this again. Now I am wondering if this is a glitch.

Or is the Dual channel Slots alternative?

The DIMM numbers shown in HWiNFO are not the physical slot numbers/names. This is only a logical order from the memory controller point of view. Each mainboard can use a custom wiring of DIMM slots.

Thanks for the reply.
I was just concerned if this had anything to with Dual Channel memory.

If one has to take benefit of the dual channel speed it is said that one has to be put it in the slots that are adjacent If you put it in other slots it wont work in Dual channel mode. Thats what I have heard.

So was wondering if the Mother Board numbering should be followed to get the Dual channel speed.

my System is vvery slow and adding a 4gb dimm didn't make any noticeable difference

HWiNFO should tell you if you memory is currently running in Dual-channel mode.

How? I don't see any variable that says "dual channel"
I have a
800.0 MHz (DDR3-1600 / PC3-12800) Speed of Corsair Even The Adata is the same.
4 GB modules.
The speed they are running at is 666.6hz
I was under the impression that dual channel corsair should be running at 1600. Please correct me if I am wrong
Thanks

Check the Summary screen or the main window. Note that if you have Sensors-only mode enabled, you'll need to disable it to get those screens.
