HWInfo64 issues with SSD plugged in

HWInfo64 works great normally. However when I have my gaming external SSD plugged in (USB-C or USB-A) it takes several minutes to start up (stuck at Detecting ATA/SCSI Drives...), and then does not show the graphs correctly (refresh rate for graph draw is like every 20 seconds). Obviously there is an issues with HWInfo64 and the SSD. Is there a way to have HWInfo64 ignore any plugged in drives? I don't use them anyway with this software.

Are you using the latest version of HWiNFO? If yes, please attach the HWiNFO Debug File with the SSD drive plugged-in.

thanks for quick reply. i'm using 805 version. is this latest? im using portable version and don't see a debug file, just an .ini. Where are those located? thanks

I can see that SSD drive takes excessive time to respond to health status queries, up to 8 seconds.
Unfortunately I don't know why this is so, maybe a firmware update could help.
Otherwise disabling monitoring of that S.M.A.R.T. sensor should help.

is that in the settings? yeah I don't care about not monitoring hard drives I only use CPU and GPU stats. How can I disable HWinfo64 from looking at hard drives at all?

You can completely disable Drive Scan or just S.M.A.R.T. monitoring in main settings of HWiNFO - Safety tab.

ok update: before starting sensors I unchecked the SMART setting. it still took a long time to start up (much longer than normal), but once the sensors are fired up it seems to be refreshing at a normal pace now

That indicates the drive detection also takes excessive time. If you don't care about drive info, you can disable the entire Drive Scan.
