Windows 8 Stuck At Startup Because Of HWInfo64

Hi.

I installed HWInfo64 and it worked fine after initially installing it. But after a reboot my computer is stuck at the point where HWInfo64 is scanning after booting into the desktop. No programs will start but I can get to the Start screen but when I try to start any programs e.g. Control Panel nothing happens except spinning circle at the mouse pointer.

I cannot get to control panel and thus cannot get to Add/Remove Programs. I also cannot get to safe mode.

How can I uninstall HWInfo64 when I cannot boot into Windows 8?

I believe this should be solved from Safe Mode. What happens when you try to boot in Safe Mode ? That should work, since HWiNFO doesn't start in that mode.

I've tried mashing the shift key and F8 to get into safe mode but nothing happens it just boots normally to the login screen and then when I log in HWInfo64 prevents from getting further. It seems like it hangs while scanning but sometimes doesn't actually get to the "analysing devices" progress window.

If you're able to launch from command prompt this: "taskschd.msc", then you could use that Task Scheduler to disable autostart of HWiNFO.

If you cannot, please try to launch this command: "regedit". If that works and opens the Registry Editor, you might use it to disable Task Scheduler (locate the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\Schedule key and change the Start value to 4). Then after rebooting try to open Task Scheduler, remove the HWiNFO task and restore the registry value back to 2.
