Can't run hwinfo in win11

I run the program and I get asked to start it, I press start and it closes down a couple of seconds later. I thought it might of been about permissions so I gave it full access still won't open up.

You should be able to reach the Setting menu, this is accessible before the scan starts.

Well, this is a quite strange one as it's crashing during calling standard Windows API. Is your system working normally otherwise, no issues with other applications for example?

yes my system works alright, so it just doesn't like somthing about my computer, like I said ver. 6 works don't know why just went previous versions till i found 1 that worked.

Which exact version 6 works? It might be an old one that didn't use the services that are used now, more precisely the COM interface.
This problem is quite weird as these are pretty standard calls and the crash seems to occur inside Windows libraries. And this kind of problem wasn't reported yet by anyone.
Are you able to run the "wmic" command from Windows Command Prompt?

I am assuming that also Windows Event Viewer, it will have record with detail a crash report.
Are your windows Genuine ?

I'm running version 6.34, when I run the wmic command i get "WMIC is deprecated" no idea what that means. This is the error in the event log.

That means the crash happens inside Windows libraries (MSCTF.dll - Microsoft Text Services Framework) which is invoked by HWiNFO.
But I'm really wondering why such module is being invoked by the system.
Also the message about wmic being deprecated looks odd as it should be working.
Looks like something is not OK in that system.

Yes, I'd recommend to run some Windows Troubleshooter or check whether all Windows Updates are properly installed, perhaps reinstall.

Hey,

i got now since a couple updates the same problem.. HWinfo will start fine with a Reboot, but when i install an Update or just want to restart it, it will not open. i have my Windows in German.. so i add "deepl" translations

I will need to see the HWiNFO Debug File of the crash:

i googled a littlebit (for the code 0xc0000005) it seems an issue with the "Data Execution Prevention" from Windows, when i disable it, it will start again. i can try to get a Debug log
