CPU throttled below TjMAX.

Currently running a i7 13700kf w/ MSI PRO Z690. BIOS settings set up by Micro Center so they should be good. Thermal TjMAX is 100c in BIOS. Chip is rated for 100c TjMAX as well.

I am new to monitoring temps now that my PC is about 2 years old. I noticed when I was running Helldivers 2, the most intensive CPU game I play on max, pushing it as hard as I could go for 95 minutes on the highest difficulty/most demanding CPU mode, HWinfo flagged throttling in core 4 with 87c being max temp dispute the TjMAX being 100c. However core 5 maxed at 88c and did not trigger a throttle weirdly.

I am also curious as to the average percentage portion of the throttle section. Does this report how much percentage the core was being throttled back or is it an percentage of time the core was throttled? I am trying to figure out if the throttle happened due to a momentary spike while loading in a game or during gameplay. These results are from a 95 minute session with very little menu time, so gameplay was pretty much constant. Average cores are sitting below 70c and package is 71c average. The screenshot was taken at idle, about a minute after closing out the game.

This is most probably due to a very short spike in temperature which wasn't captured by HWiNFO.
HWiNFO samples temperatures every 2 seconds (default Global Polling Period), but the Thermal Throttling flag is sampled internally by the CPU during the entire period. So if there's a very short spike, the temperature value might not capture that but Thermal Throttling will do.

The percentage shows how much time the core spent in throttling state.

Okay thank you. I know previous versions did not record time spent in throttling state based on older threads that Google pulled up for this website. Very nice new feature. Although now I'm a little concerned that my CPU spiked to 100c and back down to 87c within 2 seconds.
