HWiNFO64 stuck detecting ata/scsi drive

Ah yes, such issue has already been discovered by some users, although it didn't result in a hang, just inability to detect/access some drives or showing of a warning.
I'm afraid this cannot be fixed on our side as it's controlled by the Windows protection.

UPDATE: Issue seems to have been resolved after a Windows System Restore.

UPDATE 2: I have discovered the root cause of this bug/issue. When I enabled ransomeware protection in Windows Security, the issue occurred and HWinfo would hang. I have now allowed HWinfo64.exe through controlled folder access and it works fine. Not sure if you guys want to look into this or not for a future patch.
Old thread, but UPDATE 2 above just solved the same ATA/SATA deadlock I was seeing on my newly build AM5 system, although the ransomeware product was within BitDefender... Thx @nekminnit!

Hello!

Some problem still exist to me!
Drivers are standard, everything checked. Nevertheless, HWINFO64 hangs during the ata/scsi scan.

I have an external 4-bay hard drive enclosure (Fantec QB-35US3-6G) connected via USB 3.x and the interface crashes when HWINFO scans it. I can see that the LEDs on the enclosure go directly to standby, i.e. the interface has crashed.
There is also another single USB HD drive attached.

Attach Debug File...

Try the latest Beta build v8.01, that should fix this.

Hey Martin,
I'm still having this issue sporadically. it seems to hang after my windows 10 PC has been running for a while.
I've tried it with different M.2 ssd's installed and it still happens, where it'll hang at detecting ATA/SCSI drives.
I'm on version 8.06-5500 of HWINFO 64

Try the latest Beta build and if problem persists attach the HWiNFO Debug File.

Reporting back Martin, I was on the older beta ver 8.7.5515.0, and it was hanging again on detecting ATA/SCSI drives.
I ended up having to end the task via the Task Manager, but even that was ridiculously slow in killing the process.

Here's the DBG file if you want to take a look. (I'm aware there is a newer public ver and beta probably, but I figured you might want to take a look as to why this seems to happen)

Please try the latest Beta version, that has several improvements here.

Just downloaded hwi_811_5545 and installed it, seems like it's still hanging. This seems to happen when I havent restart my PC for a couple of days - once a restart has happened it doesn't hang anymore  I am using the HWINFO64.exe
If it helps, here are some of my specs:

ASRock B650M-HDV/M.2 Micro ATX AM5 Motherboard
Samsung 850 Evo 500 GB 2.5" Solid State Drive (OS and where HWInfo is stalled on)

]Western Digital Black SN770 2 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive

Thanks. Actually HWiNFO becomes stalled at the ST2000DM001 drive, which is quite weird as the system sees the drive in some cases (at controller level) but in others (e.g. SCSI level) not and the drive responds to some queries..
Is that drive working properly?

ohh..that might be an "unknown device" in my device manager under hard disks from a previous hard drive. Thank you! that's probably the issue!

I'm wondering - is that device really present or how come that it appears in system but not quite? :)
Perhaps some issue with connection or the AMD SATA controller?

Same issue, this is my debug file. Any tips?

EDIT: zipped File is still too large.
I've made an lfs git, is that ok? (link removed)
